Former England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and current Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Outlaws player Matt Montgomery officially cut the ribbon at Farndon Cricket Club
The big day finally arrived as the newest sporting pavilion in Nottinghamshire was officially opened.
Farndon Cricket Club welcomed ex-England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and current Nottingham County Cricket Club player Matt Montgomery to participate in the cutting of the ribbon of their new facility.
Previous club officials were shown around as part of the event which coincided with the club's presidents' day.
A T20 game also took place between the oldboys and a more current Farndon team.
Club chairman Mark Everington said that they owed their thanks to members who came before them.
"We would like to thank them, some of them were at the opening," he said.
"Thank you for building our previous pavilion which lasted us 50 years.
"Without these guys, the club would not be here."
Everington then extended his thanks to those who were responsible for building the new pavilion and made the dream a reality.
Most of the funding was provided by an anonymous benefactor.
"We owe this person a massive thank you and we have a responsibility to look after it," said Everington.
"We would never have been able to fund this or have managed this without them.
"We will never get this opportunity again, we got a chance that we could have only dreamed of, every other club around would love having this pavilion."
"These facilities are amazing," said Matt Montgomery.
"You don't see this at many village clubs, I am sure they will put it to good use."
