George Gamble is going for Gold in Touring Cars as he looks to compete in the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship for a second season

Epperstone’s George Gamble has revealed that he will be in the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship for a second season, reports Paul Horton.

He has announced his signing for the Toyota Gazoo Racing GB Team — back in a British built Toyota Corolla GR Sport — and the 26-year-old will make his debut with the team after a race winning rookie season in a BMW in 2022.

The Speedworks Motorsport outfit will expand and enter three cars into the championship — his team-mates Rory Butcher and Ricky Collard will return for a second season to the front wheel drive racing machine that will be new to Gamble.

Gamble has enjoyed the delights of taking part in the Touring Car package in many guises since 2011 when he competed in the Ginetta Junior Championship, coming third overall, and winning the Winter Series title outright in the same season.

More recently, George has enjoyed success in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, winning the Rookie title in 2018 and finishing third in the Pro Class a year later — Gamble has been a race winner in every support race category he has competed in so far.

Last season, Gamble stunned observers by ascending the podium on only his second time out at Donington Park and going on to claim his maiden victory at Knockhill last summer in results he is hoping to consolidate with the benefit of a year’s experience.

Gamble has already been pre-season testing for the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and has amassed over 24 race wins across his various support race appearances to date.

“Joining Toyota Gazoo Racing UK is a mega opportunity for me in only my second year in the championship. To be associated with one of the world’s leading manufacturers — which is successful in pretty much everything it turns its hand to — is massive, and I think I’m in a really good position,” said Gamble.

Christian Dick, Team Principal, Toyota Gazoo Racing UK, said:

“George caught our attention early on last year – it takes a pretty special talent to win a race as a rookie in the BTCC – and while his surname might be Gamble, we’re confident that his signing will prove to be no risk at all.”
