Epperstone’s George Gamble stepped up preparations for his second season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship last week.
It was all systems go for the reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro champion, who spent two days testing at local circuit Donington Park and Silverstone.
Gamble said: “Both test days went well, and the car was great on track.
“I’m thrilled to be back on the grid this season to defend my title!
“It’s fantastic to be back with the team of Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport and I can’t wait to get the season under way.”
Gamble had three test sessions in his brand new 2025-built Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 race car at Donington. His first day of testing went well for him and the Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport Team.
Test session one saw Gamble out in wet conditions after overnight rain and a damp track to contend with for the first part of the session.
The car ran well, he took fourth fastest on Donington’s 1.96-mile National Circuit, with 13 cars out on track. On lap 19 out of his 20 laps completed he took a time of 1:12.545secs and only 0.791seconds off the top spot. He was topping speeds at over 136mph over parts of the circuit.
Teammate Andrew Rackstraw, in the second #40 Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport Porsche, took the second-fastest spot in the first session.
The two afternoon sessions were faster for all the teams. Gamble’s second 40-minute session saw him second fastest in 1:05.279secs speeds of around 142mph. Rackstraw was third fastest on the tail of Gamble.
Gamble finished in P8 in the last session but was still matching his morning session times.
On Wednesday, all the teams moved to Silverstone for another intense day of testing on the 1.64-mile long National Circuit.
The weather was fine from the start and the team were hoping for another good day’s testing and doing any tweaks to both drivers cars.
Gamble was third fastest in the first session, 0.181seconds off the top rung with a time of 54.663 seconds and topping speeds at an average of 138mph on parts of the track. Rackstraw was second fastest in the first session.
Second trip out for Gamble saw him faster again but taking P8 in the session with plenty of traffic to contend with slowing some fantastic laps down. That didn’t stop him as he took fastest on circuit on lap 25.
Third session of the day saw Gamble go even faster, 54.408 seconds for the lap was phenomenal, completing 33 laps with Rackstraw the fastest car on track for the session.
The final session of the day saw Gamble take third fastest car on track with Rackstraw in front by a margin of 0.001 seconds.
With two high-calibre drivers and a team with such a proven track record, they will be one to watch once again during the new season.
Combined times for all the sessions saw Gamble third fastest throughout the day.
The real stuff starts for Gamble where he will race at Donington Park in just over three weeks’ time, sporting the champions #1 on the car for the eight meetings, 16-race series that supports the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship between April and October.
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship, which starts at Donington Park on April 26-27, will be televised live on ITV4.
