Epperstone's George Gamble, 25, to make British Touring Car debut after penning deal with Ciceley Motorsport

George Gamble has revealed his plans of taking part in this season’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, reports Paul Horton.

The move will see the 25-year-old partner the team’s experienced campaigner Adam Morgan in their pair of Car Gods-backed BMW 330i M Sports.

Gamble said: “I am delighted to be joining the Car Gods with Ciceley Motorsport Team for this season.

“Having raced on the support race package for a long time now, I have always aspired to be in the main race, but equally felt it was important to be with the right team and in the right car.

“I am under no illusion that the racing will be a step up from what I am used to, the level in the championship is so high and the racing so close, but I feel with the experience of the team and a quick driver in Adam as my team-mate, I can have a solid first season and a good run at the Jack Sears Trophy title.”

Competing in his 11th season in BTCC, Adam Morgan was upbeat about the team’s prospects for the approaching campaign.

He said: “It’s fantastic to have George join the team for this year, his pedigree in rear-wheel drive machinery on the TOCA package is second to none, and after our first couple of meetings together he has fitted straight into the team dynamic.

“With a learning year under our belts last season with the BMW’s, we are in a brilliant position to have a proper run at the title in 2022."

Team owner Russell Morgan said: “George’s experience and winning pedigree is clear to see, and I am sure once he has acclimatised to the championship he will be running at the sharp end.

“Remaining with Car Gods as title sponsor is also excellent for continuity within the team as we approach the challenges faced by the changes involved with the switch to hybrid technology, which will certainly add an interesting element to the racing.”

Gamble, the older brother of fellow race ace Tom Gamble, and a winner in in every support race category he has competed in, now has an extensive pre-season testing programme with Adam.

The 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season will get underway at the most local circuit to Gamble as action begins at Donington Park on April 23.

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship runs until October and ends at the Brands Hatch circuit.
