Newark Tennis Club wins to stay in Division Three defeating Keyworth in the mixed doubles




Newark played host to Keyworth in the tennis mixed doubles event of the Division Three competition.

It was a must-win contest for the club to secure their spot in the competition for next year and it was a nervous wait as Newark narrowly won by just one game, in a score that ended 73-71.

The club teams scrapped by the skin of their teeth to remain in their current division.

Sam Smith/Sara Jackson gave their club a healthy lead winning 30-18, Jon Thornton/Steph Smith came in at 23-25, and Rich Hall/Annie Davies finished 20-28.

The collective win keeps Newark secure in the competition, avoiding relegation to a lower division.
