Tom Warnock attempts to qualify for the 151st golf open at Royal Liverpool
There was cause for celebration at Norwood Park Golf Club after their PGA head coach secured a place in the final qualifying for the 151st open.
Tom Warnock secured one of the seven places available from a field of 122 at Lindrick Golf Club to make it through to the last stage.
Warnock led the competition at one stage and ended up finishing tied fourth to progress onwards.
“After a nail-biting six hour wait, we’re in," said Warnock.
"I am through to the final stage of The Open qualifying once again.
"I'd like to give a huge thank you to Pete Mills for doing a superb job on the bag and for the overwhelming support from spectators that followed me throughout the day.
"I am glad I managed to give you a couple of moments to cheer about.”
Warnock was initially going to play his final qualifying event at West Lancashire but ended up teeing off at Royal Porthcall.
He finished the first day of the event at +7, a fair way off the final five positions on offer as play continued.
