Hard lines for young rally driver James Lepley after retiring at the Rallynuts Stages Rally in Builth Wells, Wales




Young rally driver James Lepley suffered a second successive first stage drama after retiring due to a broken gearbox.

Lepley, 21, from Collingham, was competing at the Rallynuts Stages Rally in Builth Wells, Wales.

He said: “It was another unfortunate first-stage drama.

“The gearbox broke about a mile into the stage.

“We managed to get towed back to service where we were able to swap the gearbox, and even though we were out of the rally, the organisers allowed us to compete on the afternoon stages, which was good experience for me as I need the seat time.”

Lepley will miss the next round as he is focussing on his university exams.

It means he will return to the gravel in June.
