The Newark lady's 3rd XI lost by three goals in a warm-up friendly match against the South Nottinghamshire ladies from Bingham.
The match which was played on the newly re-laid pitch at the Magnus school signified the start of the new hockey season.
The game was a much anticipated affair and a good opportunity for both teams to get minutes into the legs.
Newark came close to scoring as they rattled the goal woodwork several times but were unable to get on the board.
South Nottinghamshire were more clinical with their shooting and capitalised on the few chances they were given.
The returning player from Bottesford, Becky Humphris was a constant danger to the Newark side as she drilled in a hat-trick to make the score 0-3.
