Hat-trick of wins for ace Thomas

The Newark Swimming Club team made their first appearance in the top flight of the Sports Centre League at Water Meadows, Mansfield, and found the going tough against strong opposition.

The first of six rounds saw promoted Newark finish in sixth place, with seven first places and eight personal best times recorded.

Alice Thomas produced individual wins in the open 100m breaststroke, 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle, while there were two individual wins for Ruth Money in the 11-and-under 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.

Ruth Money picked up two more individual wins in the first round of the Minor Gala League meeting at Bramcote, with the Newark club finishing in an excellent third place overall.

Money got first touch in both the 11-and-under 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, while Jack Clipstone broke his previous best time for the boys under-10 50m freestyle by three seconds.
