Successful weekend for Newark Hockey Club but mixed fortunes for Bingham-based South Notts Hockey Club




Newark Hockey Club's teams enjoyed plenty of success, starting with the men’s 1sts winning 4-1 over Loughborough Town.

Danny Hendrie scored two while Stevie Littlewood and Simon Higgs added a goal apiece.

A close contest in the Newark ladies’ 1sts’ game saw the team go down 3-2 against Belper.

Shanade Bradley and Claire Donald were the goalscorers for Newark as the side suffered a narrow defeat.

The men’s 2nds had a tough game but ended up on top as they defeated Nottingham Players 5-3.

Newark’s composure won the day as Darryn Beggs scored two, while Ciaran Logue, Jonah White, and Tim McManus slotted one each.

The ladies’ 2nds won 2-0 over West Bridgford with goals from Kitty Cameron and Kitty Rose sealing the victory.

The men’s 3rds went down 7-1 to South Notts 3rds.

Jayden Timmermans scored the only goal for Newark.

South Notts’ experience paid off as Stuart Croston, Elliot Dixon, and Neil Batty all scored braces while Gary Pickering struck one.

After a strong start, Newark faltered and South Notts went into the break up 4-1.

A dominating performance saw the ladies’ 3rds win 5-1 over Aztecs.

Braces from Cat Aisworth and Martha Philo combined with a single goal from Neve Littlewood.

Goals from Lois Knox and Emma Hogg for the 4ths could not stop the side from losing 3-2 against West Bridgford.

The South Nottingham Men’s 1sts were defeated 4-1 by West Bridgford.

Finn Collins scored for South Notts in the first-half before the opposition equalised.

West Bridgford came back out strong, constantly winning possession and managed to score three more goals by the end of the game.

A hotly contested game saw the South Notts 2nds go down 2-1 against Beeston.

Beeston took the lead before South Notts struck back thanks to an Alex Cavan goal.

The game ebbed and flowed but eventually, Beeston managed to pierce

the defence, and the game ended with Beeston winning.

In a thrilling contest, the South Notts men’s 4ths took on the ladies first team.

The friendly was organised as neither team had a match.

While both teams relied on pre-planned tactics, to good effect, they were able to vary them as required.

Both teams benefited greatly from the match experience as the game ended in a 4-4 draw.
