Hockey club to build on success
Members of Newark Hockey Club are keen to build on last season’s success as they take part in their first training session of the new term.
The club will hold its registration day on Wednesday at the Magnus Sports Centre from 7pm.
It will include a training session for ladies from 7pm-8.30pm, and for the men from 8.30pm-10pm.
Both the ladies’ and men’s second teams won promotion last season.
Despite missing out on promotion, the ladies’ first team is aiming high this season with the signing of good quality new players.
Level four coach Keith Taylor will be joining the men’s first team, bringing experience and high class coaching to the squad.
The men’s first eleven has also signed England under-18 player Sam Dixon, a dynamic addition to the squad.
New club chairman Graham Dixon returns to the club that he played for in the 1990s, having managed junior teams for National League club Beeston in recent years.
