Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Irish Golf Society will again hold their annual St Patrick’s day tournament at Newark Golf Club with proceeds from the event benefitting mental health charity, Mencap
Members of the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Irish Golf Society will again hold their annual St Patrick’s day tournament at Newark Golf Club.
The event will take place on Friday, March 15, and will raise money for this year’s chosen charity, Mencap.
Committee member Frank Duffy said they hoped to see as many golfers of Irish descent on the green as possible for this year’s event.
Haley Harding will be looking to make it three wins in a row after she won the last two tournaments.
Last year, over 30 golfers took part in the tournament and the club are hoping for a bigger turnout this year.
The society began with four Irish men wanting to play golf on St Patrick’s Day in 1981.
The four founders of the society were David Crockett, Sean O’Grady, Pat Burke, and Noel Maguire.
Anyone interested in participating in the event can reach out to the society’s secretary and treasurer Frank Duffy on 07739339543.
