Newark Athletic Club third after Notts AAA Summer League opener

Newark Athletic Club sit third after the opening round of the Notts AAA Summer League.

Newark sent a strong squad to Hexgreave to compete against 29 other teams in the summer league opener, where the first five runners back in each team score points.

Jan Bailey led the way for Newark, finishing fifth.

He was followed by Conor Pacey (eighth) Geoff Greggory (18th) Dan Wheat (21st) and Jamie Macintyre (48th) who also scored points for Newark.

Ady Dix (50th) Lewis Hopkinson (51st) Gareth Owens (113th) Tim Bagguley (127th) and Graeme Kelly (310th) also finished.

The ladies’ team also performed superbly, led home by Alison Monaghan in 19th.

Kimberley Etherington-Bates (53rd) and Lauren Owens (162nd) also raced.

The next round is at Holme Pierrepont on May 11.
