Newark and Sherwood United extend league winning streak to four with a United Counties League Premier Division North victory over Belper United
It was another great day for Newark and Sherwood United as a 2-1 win on the road over Belper United saw them extend their winning streak to four league games in a row.
The last time The HIghwaymen achieved this feat was back in September 2020.
A tight first-half saw Belper go into the break up 1-0 before a second-half revival saw the visitors clench the victory.
Louis Czerwak put Belper on the board in the 39th minute to put the hosts in front.
A late surge in the game saw Jamie Williamson equalise in the 72nd minute before Liam Moran secured the lead with the side’s second goal in the 82nd minute thanks to an assist from the man-of-the-match Kian Sketchley.
“Belper tried to play the right way but I felt that we just gave them too much respect in the first-half,” said Newark and Sherwood United manager Romaine Graham.
“At half-time I told the boys that the shackles are off.
“I am not the kind of manager that will get on people for making mistakes, I just encouraged them.
“In the second-half we upped our effort and tempo, I knew we could it.”
The Highwaymen will now take on Hucknall Town away on Saturday, (kick-off 3pm).
