“Massive opportunity!” Newark boxer Emma Dolan wants to add British super flyweight title title to her collection when she faces Watford’s Shannon Ryan in Brimingham
Newark fighter Emma Dolan has her sights set on adding another title to her collection as she prepares for the biggest bout of her career.
An unbeaten record will be ended when the 26-year-old battles Shannon Ryan (7-0) for the vacant British super flyweight title at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena on June 22.
The bout is being promoted by Matchroom Boxing and will be screened live on Dazn.
And for unbeaten Dolan (6-0) - who moved to Newark from Norwich to work with promoter and trainer Carl Greaves - this is also a chance to make the boxing world take note.
“It’s a big fight for her,” Greaves said.
“She’s a girl who left Norwich to come and train in Newark. She’s given a lot of things up to be here and it’s a massive opportunity on the biggest promotional company in the world.
“She’s looking very good and hopefully she’ll win another title.”
Dolan won the Commonwealth title on Greaves Newark Showground show in March last year, going on to defend it against Nicola Hopewell in Sheffield.
But Watford based Ryan will be no soft touch, as her seven victories prove.
“This is the biggest platform in the world now,” Greaves added.
“If Emma wins it’ll probably put her in the top five in the world rankings as her opponent is highly ranked.
“It’s its 6-0 Emma, 7-0 Shannon. Someone’s 0 has to go.”
