New Inn angler James Clark records first win
The ice breakers were out in both local matches on Sunday but again it didn’t stop the fish feeding.
Forty anglers fished both lakes at Girton Mill Dam in the third round of the Inter Clubs Individual Winter League.
The top four weights all came from the Old Lake.
It was a big day for New Inn angler James Clark as he landed his first big match win, fishing pole and pellet on peg one for 66-15-0 of carp.
Runner-up on peg 25 was Mark Cree, also fishing pole and pellet to finish with 65-1-0, and third was Chris Young on peg 15, fishing pellet down the edge for 44-9-0.
Paul Beckett was fourth, fishing over to the reeds with pole, pellet and corn for 39-15-0, while in fifth and top on the match lake was Will Sweeney on peg nine, fishing long pole pellet and maggot for 39-1-0. Sixth was Graham Cobb, again on the match lake on peg 12, fishing with corn for 34-13-0.
After three rounds Graham Cobb leads with 22 points followed by Leanne Knott on 20 and there is a tie for third between Will Sweeney and Jamie Francis on 19 points.
At Collingham’s match at Millennium, 16 braved the conditions for the third round of the Joe Cox Winter League and most couldn’t fish a feeder because of the ice.
Winner was Shane Spafford on Willow eight, fishing pole and pellet for 35-7-0 of F1s, with runner-up Matt Dring on Centenary 22 also fishing pole and pellet for 28-5-0.
Ced Baldwin was third, fishing pole and caster on Willow peg ten for 23-4-0 and fourth was Keith Hage on 16 Centenary, as usual fishing pole and pellet for 21-5-0. Keith Archer was fifth with pole and pellet on Centenary 28 for 20-0-0.
