Newark Alliance Premier Division: Flowserve close gap in title race
A return to form for Newark Flowserve saw them overcome a stubborn Collingham 2-0 on Sunday to stay in third place, but move level on points with second-placed RHP Social.
After successive defeats, Flowserve were always on top as they kept up the pressure on the division’s top two.
They broke through in the 32nd minute when Tyler Martin found the corner of the net from inside the penalty area.
Curtis Price doubled the advantage just before the break, rifling home a shot from outside the area.
Flowserve pressed hard for further goals after the break, but were denied by an in-form keeper and a strong defence.
The first goalless draw of the Newark Alliance season was played out between Rutland Arms Rovers and Coddington Mill.
Across all three divisions, there had been at least one goal in all the previous league matches.
Rutland moved up to fifth and Coddington remained second-bottom.
