Newark bloom at Spring meet
The Newark Swimming Club members produced a string of impressive performances to earn second place at the Spring Gala Competition at Retford.
They recorded 12 first places and 14 personal best times, with Ruth Money leading the way with first touches in the 10-year girls’ 50m freestyle and the 10-and-under 50m breaststroke.
There were also two relay successes by the team of Jacob Longstaff, George Mumby, Lewis Illsley and Elliot Snaith, who won the 9-year boys’ 4x25m freestyle in 1min 19.64 secs and the 8-9-year 4x25m medley relay in 1min 29.45secs.
Newark finished 26 points behind meet winners Arnold and seven clear of third-placed Leander B.

Newark Swimming Club were in action at the Colwick Park long distance annual open water championships 2008, where Chloe Palmer earned a fine second place in the 1K novice section in 14mins 39 secs.

Olivia Mathias of Newark Swimming Club was in fine form at the national biathlon championships at Macclesfield, finishing eighth in the group E girls’ section after completing the run in 3mins 51.30secs and the swim in 38.27secs.
