Newark Striders are conquering the country with outings in Manchester, Brighton, Loughborough and the Peak District
Newark Striders conquered several of the country’s biggest cities over a fortnight of action.
Jessica Lowe (left) who has done the virtual London Marathon previously, made her big city debut, and she completed the Manchester course in 4-25-37.
It was Francesca Chanderbhan’s (right) first time over the iconic 26.2-mile distance, and she finished in a time of 5-36-05.
Closer to home, Jean-Louis Balestra secured his second top-ten half-marathon finish in as many weeks.
Following on from fifth place in last week’s Monsal Trail Half, Jean-Louis finished seventh overall in the Loughborough Half with a time of 1-28-17.
Gary Tasker was third in his age category at the Whitchurch 10K, with a time of 45-50.
All the way to the south coast for the Brighton Marathon, Steve White was the first of the two Newark Striders to finish, and was delighted with a new best time of 4-01-24.
New member Ty Kinmonth was next, covering the 26.2 miles in 4-25-48.
Lisa White ran the Brighton 10K and crossed the finishing line with a time of 1-21-32.
David Cross completed the Belvoir Half-marathon, finishing in 18th position with a time of 1-29-12, then Dave Dews (1-33-21) and Peter Davis (1-49-06).
Elsewhere, Tom Banks took on the Peak District 70th Birthday — Half Bash.
This was a 35km event with challenging terrain and well over 4,000ft of‘uphill.
Banks finished in 19th place overall in a time of 4-57-24.
