Newark Swimming Club competitors record personal bests at regional championships
Two representatives from Newark Swimming Club secured personal best times at the East Midlands ASA Regional Championships.
Joe McCallion 15, and Harold Mizen, 14, competed in the event for swimmers 14-and-above at Ponds Forge International, Sheffield.
McCallion finished ninth in the 50m backstroke in a personal best time of 31-82secs. He was 14th in the 100m backstroke in 1-09-07.
There was also a personal best of 39-51 for Mizen in the 50m backstroke, for 28th position.
Their success followed the success of Ben Buck, 13, Angus McCallion, 12, and Jessica Reed, 12, and Gracie Palmer, 11, in the younger section.
They competed as part of the Nova Centurion, the Nottinghamshire county squad, where they train as well as Newark.
In total, the club achieved 14 personal bests for a long course pool swim of 50m, six finals and three club records over the two events.
This is the largest crop of swimmers to have competed at the Midlands ASA Regional Championships at one time.
