Olympic Games: Differing fortunes for GB hockey teams
There were mixed fortunes for two hockey stars in their latest matches at the Rio Olympic Games.
Shona McCallin, 24, and Adam Dixon, 29, both former Newark Hockey Club players, were in action on Wednesday evening.
Great Britain's women's team secured a quarter-final place after a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Argentina.
They went 3-0 ahead thanks to a Helen Richardson-Walsh double, with Sophie Bray adding another in the third quarter.
Argentina fought back with two goals in quick succession, but Great Britain held on to maintain a 100% record.
There was disappointment for Adam Dixon as the men's team were defeated 2-1 by rivals Australia.
He started match on the bench as Australia scored two goals in the final quarter to take a big advantage.
Ashley Jackson pulled one back with two minutes remaining, and they had a shot cleared off the line in the final moments as their opponents held on for victory.
They now face a must-win match against Spain in their final match of the group, on Friday. Should they win, they would still need a better result than New Zealand manage against Belgium, to qualify for the quarter-final stage.
