Personal bests slashed
Youngsters gave top performances for Newark Swimming Club to achieve ten first places and nine personal bests in a closely contested Minor Gala League meeting in Bramcote.
The Newark Club finished third overall out of the five teams, behind Radford and Kimberley Swimming Clubs.
Will Ballard, Jack Woodward, Andrew Sanger and Lewis Batterham performed superbly to win both their 13 and under medley and freestyle relay races.
Ben Palmer competed well to win the 50-metre freestyle in both the ten and under and 11 and under age groups.
There were also various other individual wins for Newark swimmers and some huge improvements in personal best times.
These included Matt Pritchett knocking three 1/2-seconds off his 50-metre backstroke time, Jack Woodward taking another three seconds off his 200-metre freestyle time and Sally Smith taking more than two seconds off her 50-metre breaststroke time.
Lewis Illsley also set two new personal bests, including smashing his 50-metre butterfly time by 12 seconds.
