The Gordon Whelbourn Running Week wasn’t the only event attracting runners from the area.
Notfast member Peter Tatton ran the Beeston 5, which borders the Trent for two miles and the Nottingham and Beeston Canal for another two, in 50-17.
David Watt endured hot conditions for the Shires And Spires 35-mile ultra race in Northamptonshire, finishing in 6-53-41.
Jeremy Reichelt, set a new personal best at the Woodhall Spa 10k where he finished in 47-51, which saw him rank 265th from 1,002 runners, and 15th in his men’s over-55 age group.
Newark Striders runner Chloe Butterick took part in the Grasmere Gallop 10k in the Lake District, finishing in 57-50.
Sisters Jess and Abigail Gordon completed the Notts Ten-mile race together. Jess was first home in 1-24-43 followed by Abigail in 1-31-27. Both were new personal bests.
Julie Mumby completed her first 10k race in 1-30-54 at the Race For Life at Lincoln Showground, Lincoln. Team-mates Michelle Hill and Sarah Anderson took part in the 5k race.
o Two Newark-based athletes helped Grantham Athletic Club triumph at a match in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Under-13 runner Amy Hunt, of Newark, won the 150m, 800m, and shot put, setting a personal best score in the latter.
Also in the under-13 girls category, Gabrielle Lucas, of Claypole, put in some fine performances in the 75m and long jump, with a personal best leap of 3.52m.
