Plenty of hockey games across the district in men and women competitions
The Newark men’s first XI were defeated 10-2 in the hockey by Nottinghamshire University’s 5ths.
The men’s seconds side lost to Burton 5-0 while the 3rds got some redemption for the club winning 3-1 against Derby.
It was a good performance from the 3rds side as they controlled the game throughout the match.
The results were more promising for the women’s side of the club with one win and a draw being achieved against a loss.
In the ladies’ competition, the Newark 1sts tied 3-3 against West Bridgford.
The women’s second team went down 6-1 against Beeston.
The 3rds salvaged a 2-1 victory against the Ashfield Aztecs after a tough match in an evenly-fought contest.
At Bingham, the men’s South Nottinghamshire 1sts defeated Belper 4-3 in an excellent display of hockey.
South Notts prevailed with goals from Finlay Collins, Harry Beedham, and two from Mike Shapland.
After an initially evenly balanced match which saw the teams go into the first-half at 3-2, the South Notts seconds ran away with the match 9-2 as Alex Cavan scored six goals for the side.
The club’s 3rds were a man down and lost 1-4 away to North Nottinghamshire.
In the ladies, West Bridgford put out a development side against the South Nottinghamshire firsts, winning 2-0 in a solid performance from new wing, Alex Stephenson.
