7-year-old member of Newark Castle Archers sets new county record
A seven-year-old who took up archery just six weeks ago has sealed a new county record in the under-ten age group.
Rowan Cooper-Watts, 7, of Newark Castle Archers, took part in her first competition at Greasley Castle Archers — the first of a three series shoot across Nottinghamshire.
Cooper-Watts, who shoots barebow, fired 30 arrows at 20 yards, 15 yards and ten yards, and came away with a personal best and new record with a score of 365.
Club chairman Mandie Elson said it was important to celebrate Cooper-Watts’ achievement as it demonstrated that young children can thrive in the sport.
Her mum Victoria Watts said: “We are incredibly proud of Ro.
“She has finally found something she is passionate about and we are really grateful to Mandie and Newark Castle Archers for being so kind and welcoming to us.”
