Eight winning teams were initially divided into two groups of four to play in a round-robin format with the top four teams going on to play in semi-finals and for those two winning teams — a final.

Coddington began their day strong with a 2-0 win over Abbey (Mansfield representatives) in a back-and-forth match that saw some fierce competition.

Great team work and perseverance drove the team through and they continued this run of form with another 2-0 win over Middleton (Notts representatives) in another hard fought match.

The final match of the group stages saw Coddington once again winning 2-0 against Tollerton.

Coddington finished the group stages as the only team to remain unbeaten from either group, conceding no goals and scoring six.

Coddington and Abbey progressed through Group A and Greasly Beauvale and Prospect Hill progressed from Group B.

Coddington then met Prospect Hill in the semi-finals.

Coddington against Prospect Hill was a challenging game for both teams but eventually, Coddington pushed through to the final as 3-1 winners.

In the final, disaster struck early, right at the start of the match, an own goal put Coddington 1-0 down.

Rather than let this get them down, the team showed outstanding resilience and supported each other to fight for victory.

This strategy paid off as they finished the match 3-1 winners against Greasly Beauvale and were crowned Nottinghamshire under-11 school champions.

The tournament marks the crowning achievement of this school team who will now go on to compete in the Midlands Regional tournament alongside the other championship teams.
