Seren Pritchard returns from the BMX world championships after making quarter finals in Nantes, France
IT WAS a great experience for Balderton native Seren Pritchard as she got to do something at nine-years-old that many of us will never get to achieve — an appearance at a world championships.
The avid BMX-er was in Nantes, France, for the world championships where the best in the world had qualified to compete.
Seren finished World 18th in the event and has had quite a bit of success domestically.
“Seren came third, second and third in her motos, which put her through to the top 40 riders in 22nd position,” said her dad, Greg Pritchard.
Seren came fourth in her 1/8th final before getting through to the quarter-final in a very tough field full of highly skilled BMX competitors.
“She had a really tough draw in her quarter-final as it had some European championship finalists in and some of them went through to the final at the worlds,” said her dad.
“She was in the fourth position for half of the race but then slipped back into fifth place and couldn’t gain it back so just missed out on the semi-finals, by one position.”
It was a very good result for Seren who has been BMX-ing for several years and rides for Team Bunneys.
She will qualify for the world championships at Glasgow next year with this year’s national ranking and will have another shot at the competition.
Seren will be straight back into the saddle this weekend as she competes in the national rounds in Birmingham.
