Ollerton Rugby Club played host to Cleethorpes and won 19-15 in a close and fiery affair.

Ollerton’s try scorers were scrum-half Jack Cranmer who scored an excellent effort and Winger Jonny Brannan who flew in two fast tries, which gained him the man-of-the-match award.

Two conversions were hit by their fly-half Ryan Bowskill.

Ollerton played with 13 men for a while as Lock Jim Wigglesworth and Flanker Ash Almond were sin-binned for overzealous play.

In the tight match, Clee-thorpes also played good rugby and scored two fine tries, a penalty, and a conversion.

They weren’t good enough for Ollerton on home soil though who walked off the pitch with the much-deserved win.

The victory puts Ollerton in the solid midtable territory as they sit seventh from 12 teams in the Counties Three Midlands East (N) East competition.

Bingham effectively had a bye after the news was announced that their prospective opponents, South Nottinghamshire Baa Baa’s had to withdraw from the pennant so no game was held.

Bingham are currently leading the Central One table and will take on East Retford at home on Saturday.

Southwell 1sts went down away at Burton losing 55-19.

They got points on the board but never managed to seize the initiative.

Southwell 2nds had a better time as they defeated Worksop 28-22 while the 3rds lost at home to Mansfield 3rds 18-12.
