Alicia Barrett, 18, of Southwell, travels to Sweden for final Formula Woman assessment




An 18-year-old from Southwell has reached the final ten of a global competition which hopes to find a future female motor racing champion.

Alicia Barrett has reached the final ten of Formula Woman, which will see female drivers go head-to-head for a sponsored McLaren seat in the UK's GT Cup Championship 2022.

Barrett was one of 800 applicants from 28 countries.

Having reached the final 50, she impressed judges with her pace at PF International Kart Circuit near Grantham last week to confirm a sport among the final 15 contestants, before the shortlist was narrowed down to just ten drivers.

Yesterday (Wednesday, March 9), Barrett travelled to Sweden for the final part of the competition.

With four seats up for grabs, the winners of the competition will be announced on Friday following the test sessions today.
