A Newark cyclist has claimed the opening round of the British Women’s Team Cup.
Isabel Darvill, racing for Pro-Noctis/Rotor/RedChilliBikes/Heidi Kjeldsen, put numerous good sprinters to bed as she won the Deck Peck Memorial Race with a well-timed sprint finish at Virginia Waters, Surrey.
The victory was one of Darvill’s most impressive to date.
Newarks’ Jack Levick, racing for the Rose Race Team, was also among the medals as he finished second in the Darlington Cycling Club 25 mile Time Trial in 50 minutes 48 seconds — averaging 29.528 mph.
The event, the first of three, was won by Irishman George Peden who finished with just over 90 seconds to spare.
Southwell’s Ian Russell, racing for the Moda Race Team, competed in the Vive le Velo Spring 2022 Nocturne Cross Series at the Costello Stadium.
He finished first in the veterans class and fourth overall.
