Sprinter Amy Hunt flies into the record books after stunning 60m win

Sprinter Amy Hunt will compete for England next week after posting the fourth-fastest 60 metre time ever for an under-17 runner.

The 14-year-old from Newark produced a stunning personal best of 7.43secs in the final of the England Athletics under-17 Championships, held in Sheffield.

Her performance in the final saw her stroll away for victory, and was quick enough to give her a spot in the forthcoming under-18 indoor meeting for England against Wales in Cardiff on Sunday.

This will be the first time she has represented her country.

Her time on Saturday was also a Championship record, and the second-fastest by a British 14-year-old girl.

Among those who have congratulated her are Katharine Merry, an ex-Great Britain international, and the current record holder for the fastest time for a 14-year-old.
