Newark Castle Archers enjoy success at Nottinghamshire Indoor Championships at Joseph Whittaker School




Nine members from Newark Castle Archers tasted success at the Nottinghamshire Indoor Championships.

Competing against Sherwood Archers at Joseph Whittaker School in Rainworth, Newark came away with multiple wins at the Portsmouth event, which saw archers shoot at a 60cm face from 20yards with five dozen arrows.

Jessica Parkin won the junior ladies’ compound, while youth member Jenson Hardy won the junior men’s recurve.

Harry Weeks was also victorious in a junior section, taking the junior bowmen award.

Senior Steve Pepper was third in the men’s longbow while Marti Waterfield finished second in the ladies’ recurve category.

Mandie Elson, club chairman, was second in the longbow event.

The archery club is hosting a Have A Go session at Newark Castle Grounds on April 23.

They will host a second session at Newark Rugby Club’s Kelham Road ground on May 15.

The sessions are aimed at those who have not yet tried their hand at the sport.

Donations on the day are welcomed by the club.
