Thomas leads way for club

The Newark Swimming Club members pulled out all the stops in their last three galas and ended up with a trophy in the final of the Notts and District League.

Newark began by winning the second round of the Notts and District League at Retford, with an impressive all-round display that produced 27 wins and nine personal best times, and the result was enough to put Newark into the top gala for the final round at Mansfield.

There, a total of eight wins and four personal bests saw the Newark club earn fourth place.

The final round of the Sports Centre Gala League at Balderton’s Grove Leisure Centre saw the larger teams from the Nottingham area again prove too tough for promoted Newark, with the hosts finishing fifth after a solitary win from Alice Thomas and six personal best times.
