Undefeated Newark boxers from Carl Greaves' gym head to Worksop for fights

Two Newark fighters take to the ring in Worksop this weekend.

Tom Cowling and Olly Marple, who train under Carl Greaves, will be on the bill at North Notts Arena.

Cowling, who fights at middleweight, has a record of eight wins and no losses.

He faces last-minute replacement Jake Bell, who is making his professional debut after an undefeated amateur career.

“They must highly rate Jake to put him against Tom on his professional debut,” said Greaves.

“I really rate Tom, I have massive hopes for him. We want him to compete for English champion soon.”

Greaves’ other fighter, light heavyweight Olly Marple, undefeated in his three bouts, is up against seasoned fighter Lewis Van Poetsch, who has had 162 bouts.

“Olly is learning on the job and is doing well, he is learning all the time,” said Greaves.

“Fight preparation has gone really well for both fighters, we have changed things up a bit,” he said.

The contest takes place on Saturday. Tickets are still available from the boxers.
