United Autosports driver Tom Gamble lands in Barcelona ahead of LMP2 debut
Racing driver Tom Gamble said he was ready to make his next step up the ladder ahead of his LMP2 debut, reports Paul Horton.
The United Autosports driver is in Barcelona and ready to take part in his debut race weekend in the LMP2 class of the European Le Mans Series.
The ELMS LMP3 champion of 2020 said he was ready to show the world what he could do, following the announcement of his promotion to the highest class in Endurance racing.
“I am really looking forward to the new season in the next class of racing with my championship winning team,” said Gamble.
“LMP2 is the next step up in the ladder — there is a long way to go to the end of the season in October but we intend to make our mark in the championship”
“Myself, Phil and Jonathan have a wealth of experience under our belts and, with a team like United Autosports, our aim is the championship.”
The 19-year-old, from Epperstone, will be joined in Spain by team-mates Phil Hanson and Jonathan Aberdein.
Since arriving at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Gamble — the silver racer — has been committed to testing the #22 Oreca 07 Le Mans prototype supercar.
As the Advertiser went to press, Gamble and his team had topped the timing in the morning practice session.
United Autosport were 0-172 seconds clear of Cool Racing Team, taking the fastest lap of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 1-33-322.
Racing begins on Sunday at 11am, local time.
