More mixed results from Newark Tennis Club as they experience ups and downs
It was another mixed period of match play for Newark Tennis Club as they had their fair share of highs and lows.
The results started with another dominating performance from the mixed 1st team as they defeated Farnsfield's 2nd side by 76-34.
Sam Smith and Sara Jackson lost just four games as they won 10-2, 10-2, and 12-0.
James Lalyk and Steph Smith lost six games and took the match 8-4, 10-2, 12-0 match.
Edgars Barvinskis and Dawn Cartledge supported with 3-9, 5-7, and 6-6 results.
The team remains in second place in division five.
In the mixed 2nd team, the side went down 56-52 as they narrowly missed out on their third consecutive win of the season against Sutton Bonnington.
John Bramley and Tamara Bainbridge won 3-9, 7-5, 10-2.
Rich Hall and Jen Brown scored 1-11, 6-6, 8-4.
While the team of Todor Malinov and Dawn Cartledge went 4-8, 3-9, 10-2. The team currently remains in second position in division seven.
The club's Ladies' 1st team secured their third win in a row with a convincing win against East Bridgford cementing their top spot in Division Three.
They won the fixture 73-35 in a dominating performance.
Sara Jackson and Steph Smith led by example as they won all their sets 9-3, 8-4, 12-0.
Jen Brown and Hrudya Kolli followed suit as they won 8-4, 10-2, 9-3. Dawn Cartledge and Annie Walton round it out taking 17 games 7-5, 5-7, 5-7.
Newark men's 2nd side defeated Caunton 3rds 63-45.
The win put the Newark side out of the relegation zone as the experienced third pairing of Tony Gammage and Adrian Smith won
10-2, 10-2, 6-6.
John Sampson and Edgars Barvinskis came up with 9-3 ,6-6, 9-3, while Hari Koll and Greg Eden finished 6-6,5-7, 2-10.
After conceding their previous match due to player unavailability, the ladies' 2nd side for Newark needed a win to avoid relegation.
However, after many close games and up against a strong Farnsield first pair they just missed out as they went down 57-51.
Clare Hogg and Jo Ellis scored 2-10, 6-6, 11-1.
Annie Waghorn and Helen Isaacs finished 2-10, 5-7, 5-7.
Julie Pipes and Rachel Cook rounded out results 2-10, 5-7, 9-3.
