Wilson hat-trick seals success

Newark Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI produced another stunning performance to beat hosts Belper 5-0 on Saturday and strengthen their position in second spot in Midlands Feeder East.

Newark were boosted by the return of skipper Sarah Pask after injury, but it was Emma Wilson who was the hat-trick hero against a Belper side that Newark had beaten 12-0 in the reverse fixture at Magnus Sports Centre in November.

The visitors found it difficult to settle into their slick passing style on Belper’s bouncy water-based pitch, and the first half finished goalless.

But Newark found their form in the second period, with Megan Beard giving them the lead before Wilson grabbed her first. Beard then netted her second, with Wilson completing her hat-trick with two more quality strikes.
