Sally Lack breaks world powerlifting records at the Amateur World Powerlifting Congress in Louisiana, United States of America

South Scarle powerlifter Sally Lack had a successful campaign at the AWPC World Championships in Louisianna as she broke and equaled world records.

She was joined by her daughter 11-year-old Harriet who witnessed her mum set a new world record in the bench and deadlift.

Sally deadlifted 125kg equalling the current world record on her third attempt.

She was then allowed a fourth lift for equalling the feat and managed to set a new world record of 127.5 kg.

Harriet and her mum took in an afternoon at the zoo and after the competition went to a waterpark before making the 31-hour trip home.

"Harriet had a great time," said Sally Lack

"She was my chief chalker and helped everyone at warm-up by holding onto a weight conversion sheet, which is needed as although all competition plates are in kg, in America all plates in the warm-up area are in lbs, which leads to lots of confusion.

"The youngest lifter at the event was 15 and the oldest was 83. There were 5 men and women over 75! The furthest travelled was from Australia."

Sally was back training after a few day's rest and now has her sights set on IPL-tested world championships in October and the WPC Worlds in November.
