North Muskham pantomime to take over the Muskham Rural Community Centre with Beauty and the Beast
A much-loved fairy tale is to be given a different interpretation and comedy as it takes over the stage as a pantomime.
The North Muskham pantomime, which has been in operation by the Muskham Players, brings Disney classic — Beauty and the Beast — for its 31st production.
The pantomime will be on at the Muskham Rural Community Centre from Wednesday (November 20) to Saturday (November 23).
Spectators can still expect the classic Beauty and Beast love story, plus good and bad magic and all the glamorous costumes previously seen on screen, but with a panto twist of fun and extravaganza.
Paul Buck, the chairman of Muskham Players said: “So, fasten your seat belts, cling on to your raffle tickets and get ready for riotous routines, crazy characters, dazzling dances, amazing music, typical Muskham mayhem and a donkey.
“We’re just hoping that we don’t offend the French too much.”
The panto directed by Paul Buck will be performed by Ellie Beddoe (The Rose Fairy); Garry Hill (Dame Dolly); Sam Waterhouse (Chardonnay); Laura Hill (Chablis); Lilli-Rose Cobb (Belle); Caz Williams (Madame Tricot); Amelie Cobb (LeClerk); Phil Beddoe (Jean-Claude); Simon Symcox (Papa); Kate Mizen and Svetlana Nikolska (Camembert); Harry Weeks (Prince Louis); Natalie Lighten (Jacques); Sally Grogan (Countess Deville); Julie Symcox (Madam B); Ian Harrison (Promptly); Sue Hill (Mrs O’Potts); Robin Grassby (Beast).
A live band will be supported by adult, teenage and junior chorus throughout the five performances.
Paul Buck added: “Local community events such as the village pantomime are fantastic for pulling people together from all walks of life, most of whom have never acted or worked on or backstage before, enabling them to be part of something they thought they could never do.
“It's quite rewarding to see folks both young and old, inspired by what they are able to do, grow in confidence and blossom into accomplished actors or theatre production staff.
“You'll see many performers who appeared in our first ever pantomime, and many new faces on and off stage as our group continues to grow.”
