Cast are just singing in the rain
The classic musical about Hollywood in the 1920s arrives at the Lincoln Theatre Royal for a two-week run.
The County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (CAODS) present Singin’ In The Rain.
The show, written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with lyrics by Arthur Freed and music by Nacio Herb Brown, reveals how silent pictures had to give way to talkies with some hilarious but disastrous results.
The cast are directed by David Taylor and choreographed by Jo Dewberry, the team behind Newark Amateur Operatic Society’s productions of Annie and Me And My Girl.
The musical director is Brady Mould.
The lead roles are played by Christian Norton as Don Lockwood, Ian Ganderton as Cosmo Brown and Jo Dewberry as Kathy Seldon.
All three have regularly performed in Newark with the Stroke Of Genius Community Theatre Company.
Chloe Swindell is Lina Lamont, Kate Fenn is Dora Bailey, Kindall Goble is R.F. Simpson, Andrew Wydrzynski is Roscoe Dexter, Rachel Mitchell is Miss Dinsmore, and Tim Jenks is Rod.
Society chairman Andrew Wydrzynski said: “This will be the first time that CAODS has produced the show in its 63-year history.
“With such unforgettable melodies as You Stepped Out Of A Dream, You Were Meant For Me, Good Morning, Make ‘Em Laugh and Singin’ In The Rain, it is a show suitable for the whole family.
“It contains stunning dance routines, some hilarious moments and features a cast of fresh young talent and company stalwarts alike and we promise audiences real rain for the title song.”
The show runs from Tuesday to November 9 at 7.30pm, with matinees on November 2 and 9 at 2.30pm and November 3 at 4pm.
CAODS continue this year to support the Lincolnshire Motor Neurone Disease Association.
