Luna Cinema brings blockbuster films, such as Joker and Rocketman to Lincoln Castle

As theatres and concert venues remain closed because of ongoing coronavirus concerns, the focus is on the annual outdoor cinema extravaganza at Lincoln Castle next month.

It is the fourth year that Luna Cinema has brought its festival to the grounds of the 11th Century castle.

Social distancing will be enforced to ensure the event meets covid-19 guidelines.

A spokesman said: We’ve thought long and hard about the best way to bring cinema back while adhering to social distancing measures and are very pleased to have come up with the ultimate socially distanced open-air cinema experience.

“We’ve got state of the art sound and screens, a selection of some of the best films ever made, and all of it can be enjoyed whilst staying safe and socially distanced.”

Seats will be provided at the screenings and all ticket booking groups will be assigned a pitch that will have chairs pre-laid out to allow for the correct social distancing.

The first film to be shown ­— on Wednesday, September 16 ­— will be Joker (15) the psychological thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix.

It is followed by the classic romantic comedy Pretty Woman (15) starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, on Thursday, September 17.

Elton John bio-pic Rocketman (15) starring Taron Egerton as the flamboyant showman in his breakthrough years, is screened on Friday, September 18.

No outdoor cinema experience would be complete without the musical classic Grease (PG).

The story of high school romance starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John is on Saturday, September 19.

The final offering is Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (PG) which is being shown on Sunday, September 20.

All films start at 7.30pm.
