Krazy Races announces Lincoln’s first-ever free soapbox race event set to take place in September

An award-winning events company is delighted by the community’s “amazing response” after it revealed the location for a free upcoming race.

Krazy Races recently announced that it will be bringing fun, entertainment and adrenaline to Lincoln with a free charity Soapbox competition set to take place later this year.

Just three days after team applications were opened, the 40 available spaces were filled up, exceeding the company’s expectations and forcing them to create a waiting list.

Soapbox racing involves people launching themselves downhill in hand-made, motorless vehicles, tackling obstacles as they go, with the aim of being the fastest team to complete the course.

Commencing on September 15, this will be Lincoln’s first race of this kind.

Participants will set off from Spring Hill making various twists and turns to eventually finish at the White Horse pub.

It was initially anticipated that some 15,000 people would attend the event, but Danny Scoffin, a spokesperson for the company, says that it could now be more than 20,000.

“A free family event like this is great for the community, especially during the cost of living crisis,” he added.

“You can bring your own packed lunches, and drinks and just enjoy the day.”

Krazy Races wants to engage and work with businesses in the city so that the footfall from the day can positively impact them.

Danny explained that they deliberately picked the route that they did so that all shops and cafes could remain accessible and benefit from the traffic.

The organisation has yet to decide on its headlining charity but said that it will be down to the people of Lincoln to decide.
