Splendour Festival at Wollaton Park, Nottingham announces headline acts including Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Jake Bugg and Clean Bandit
The headliners to a popular festival’s return have been announced and Newark residents are to benefit from bus partnership.
The festival, which was cancelled last year due to delays in the contract award process will return to Nottingham’s Wollaton Park on July 19 and 20.
Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis and Jake Bugg are some of the names announced for this year’s Splendour Festival along with Clean Bandit, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natasha Bedingfield, Echo & The Bunnymen, Seasick Steve, The Levellers, The Fratellis.
Spanning six stages across the park, the weekend’s line-up also features Kingfishr, Cardinals, Elvana, Kezia Gill, Brooke Combe, Overpass, Lyvia, The Publics, Pentire, Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir, The Amy Winehouse Band, TSSFU and Tom A. Smith.
Splendour partnered with Big Green Coach for sustainable travel from cities around the region including Leicester, Sheffield and Lincoln.
A carbon-neutral coach will bring festival attendees to the gates and return to their pick-up locations after the music stops.
It is available from Newark, Chesterfield, Leicester, Leicester (A6 Birstall Services), Leicester (Fosse Park), Lincoln, Loughborough, Mansfield and Sheffield from £40.
A brand new stage will also welcome Day Fever for the very first time, the daytime disco by Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers and Vicky McClure.
This will be followed by a yet to be revealed line up of electronic music programming closing out both days.

The headline for Saturday includes Bloc Party; Jake Bugg; Clean Bandit; Natasha Bedingfield; Seasick Steve; Kingfishr; LYVIA; Brooke Combe; Elvana; Vicky McClure & Our Dementia Choir and The Amy Winehouse Band.
The names headlining on Sunday are Kaiser Chiefs; Travis; Sophie Ellis-Bextor; Echo & The Bunnymen; The Levellers; The Fratellis; Kate Nash; Cardinals; Kezia Gill; Overpass; TSSF; The Publics; Pentire and Tom A. Smith.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the city to once again host this nationally recognised event and one of the East Midlands’ biggest music festivals."
A long-standing partnership with Nottingham Trent University will allow many of its students to gain real-life experience in the music industry at Splendour, from behind-the-scenes roles in lighting and sound to performing on the big stage.
Michael Marsden, executive dean, the School of Art & Design, said: “As a university that’s recognised for providing its students with real-world work experience, it’s great to see Splendour return to Nottingham, allowing our students to put what they’re taught into practice.”
The festival also has a long tradition of inviting the city’s sports teams including Trent Rockets and Nottingham Forest previously taking part in the weekend with on-site activations.
A children’s dedicated area — Little Splendours — will include a traditional fairground and plenty of fringe entertainment.
This year, organisers are building on the growing appeal of weekend festival getaways with the introduction of an accommodation partner next to the festival site.
Nottingham Venues, the official Splendour accommodation partner, has plenty of options from budget-friendly rooms with shared bathrooms starting at just £66 to ensuite rooms with breakfast included at £90, on the adjacent University of Nottingham campuses.
For something a little more luxurious, the Orchard Hotel offers modern bedrooms just a short walk from the Wollaton Park festival. Doubles, twins and superior rooms are available.
Jubilee Hotel, on campus with lakeside views, with a cafe and atrium bar. It has a mixture of bedroom types including double, superior, singles, family rooms and a suite.
Both hotels are offering a Splendour discount on all bookings.
Day tickets have been released starting from £69 + booking fee for general admission.
Payment plans to spread the cost and City Resident discounts are available on all Weekend and Day tickets.
The festival is offering a lower priced Youth ticket option for 11-17 year olds, and free entry for children aged 10 and under, who have a ticket.
All under 18s are to be accompanied by an adult.
