New season of music, drama, and tales from extraordinary lives at Palace Theatre, Newark




Oh no it isn’t… oh yes it is — panto season is over, and now a whole new selection of music and drama awaits at Newark’s Palace Theatre.

The new season gets underway on January 18, with West End and X Factor star Nate Simpson in the The Marvin Gaye Songbook.

Then on January 21, Ward Thomas, one of the UK’s most successful country acts, will bring their sound to the stage.

Stand Up and Rock brings a medley of comedy by Scott Bennett and Stan Boardman, and rock music by The Subterraneans, to the venue on January 23.

Two days later, on January 25, its time for Think Floyd to faithfully recreate the atmosphere of Pink Floyd live on stage.

The ELO Experience, a multi-award-winning tribute to The Electric Light Orchestra, follows on January 31.

February’s entertainment begins with comedy from Ben Elton in his show Authentic Stupidity, on February 1.

Money For Nothing, a meticulous reibute to the Dire Straits, calls in on February 6 for a sonic spectacular.

On February 8 its time for Last Night Of The Proms, which is an annual fundraising event for the Newark Twinning Association and features the Newark and Sherwood Concert Band.

On the 13th Strictly professional Giovanni Pernice’s show The Last Dance swirls into the venue.

The next day there’s The Everly Brothers By Candlelight, celebrating the golden age of rock 'n' roll bathed in candlelight.

On February 20 BAFTA nominated author, activist, performer and Sunday Times number one bestseller, Lemn Sissay will make an appearance.

Then there’s something for youngsters as, on February 22, Fireman Sam- The Great Camping Adventure hits the stage for two performances.

Tap Factory turn up the energy on February 27 for a blend of dance, acrobatics, music, and comedy.

To round off the month the next day a favourite Liverpool-born tribute to the Fab Four, The Mersey Beatles, star with their all new show.

Sure put a spring in your step in March, the month begins with Seven Drunken Nights - The Story Of The Dubliners, on the 1st.

Then get stuck into the the music of Lionel Richie with Malcolm Pitt’s show Lionel on April 7.

Henry Cole pays a visit on the 13th, to tell heart warming and hilarious stories, and he’s followed by award-winning British garden designer and BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, Adam Frost, the next day.

The month concludes with Cloudbusting - The Music Of Kate Bush on March 21, with vocalist Mandy Watson bringing classic hits such as Wuthering Heights, Babooshka, and Hounds of Love to Newark.

April 1 kicks off with the ultimate fusion of rock 'n' roll, pop, and comedy in That'll Be The Day.

Country Hits Live will transport audiences to the heart of downtown Nashville on April 3.

Then on April 5, Billy Billingham will tell tales of his extraordinary life in his show Always A Little Further.

On April 11 T.Rextasy, the official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan and T.Rex, will bring to life one of the most flamboyant and charismatic stars of the original glam rock era.

A day later the sounds of The Temptations will fill the theatre in Just My Imagination, showcased by a talented cast of dynamic West End performers.

It’s followed by the James Bond Concert Spectacular on April 13, which is the most critically acclaimed tribute to the music of Bond and is compered by former Bond girl Caroline Bliss.

Roaring into the Palace on April 15 is Dinosaurs Live, ready to share a bumper load of dinosaur facts with curious minds.

Jordanian-Palestinian classical pianist Iyad Sughayer will call at the venue on April 17 to share his musical talent.

April 18 and 19 sees musical Eternal Love, Steve Steinman’s latest Vampires Rock show, burst onto the stage with over 20 original songs and a full cast of amazing singers, dancers and musicians.

Paul Merson will tell stories from his illustrious football career in his show My Life, at the venue on April 29.

Then, the round off the season, on April 30, tribute act Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac will bring the band’s hits to life on the Palace stage.
