Queen tribute act Mercury, The Nutcracker, and The RAF Cranwell Band with The Military Wives Choir at Newark Palace Theatre
A show firmly established as one of the most authentic tributes to Freddie Mercury and the legendary Queen is heading to Newark — the hometown of it’s frontman.
Starring Newark’s Joseph Lee Jackson as Freddie himself, the award-winning stage show by leading Queen tribute band Mercury will be at the Palace Theatre on November 16.
This year the tribute act is celebrating 25 years on the road, during which time it has been wowing audiences across the world with its spectacular costumes and world class production.
The show includes performances of the most popular Queen hits such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘Radio Ga Ga,’ ‘We Are The Champions’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and many more — combining excellent musicianship, beautiful harmonies and intricate guitar work.
On guitar is the talented Glenn Scrimshaw as Brian May, and Pat Coleman is on drums as Roger Taylor.
Mercury promises to captivate any audience, and has been doing so for two and a half decades.
Also at the Palace, on Tuesday, November 19, the classic festive ballet Nutcracker promises to get audiences into the spirit of the season.
A jewel of Tchaikovsky's repertoire, the charming fairy tale, based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King written by E.T.A Hoffmann, will bring a magical new world to the theatre as it follows the story of Marie whose godfather gives her a Nutcracker doll as a present on Christmas Eve.
Audiences can discover that the Nutcracker in this ballet may be a handsome prince in disguise.
The RAF Cranwell Band and The Military Wives Choir will be at the venue on Thursday, November 21, for a double taste of Cranwell.
The wives’ choir, formed in 2012, is made up of like-minded women from the area who meet to sing and socialise, and their stage-partners for the evening, the Band of the Royal Air Force College, is one of three established bands in the Royal Air Force who perform at major events such as the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and the Edinburgh Tattoo.
