Milton Jones enters the world of politics

Comedian Milton Jones is running for the position of Prime Minister and will set out his manifesto in his latest stand-up show Milton Jones Is Out There.

Fans can hear his views at Lincoln’s Engine Shed on Thursday and Meres Leisure Centre, Grantham, on December 2.

It is billed as Milton’s manifesto of nonsense, taking a philosophical look at his life so far and his thoughts on giving this all up to seek the highest office in the land — but how do you get a desk and a swivel chair up a mountain?

With Milton running for Prime Minister, he poses the question, can we really do worse than the politicians we already have? Yes, we can.

“As well as me doing loads of trademark jokes and little sketchy pieces, the show sees me thinking: with all that’s going on in the world, maybe I should be doing something more serious rather than talking nonsense,” said Milton, a regular on the BBC’s Mock The Week.

“I seem to have a crisis of confidence in terms of: is nonsense of any value? And, of course, that results in more nonsense rather than less.”

Despite the premise, the comic promises his show is not too political, but will, instead, be packed with jokes and plenty of expertly-crafted puns.

“It’s all fairly jokey. There is one pseudo-political joke, which is as near as I get. With my stuff, people remember the joke rather than the point,” he said.
