Barry Steele and Friends bring The Roy Orbison Story to the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall

The unmistakable sound of Roy Orbison is brought to life when Barry Steele and friends visit the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.

The former RAF serviceman has been performing as The Big O for many years, since performing in a talent competition while on holiday in Cornwall.

He is bringing his latest tour to Nottingham on Sunday.

In The Roy Orbison Story, he will take the audience from The Black and White Night right through to The Traveling Wilburys, accompanied by a big-screen projection.

He will perform Orbison’s greatest hits, including In Dream, Crying, Only The Lonely, You Got It, and Oh, Pretty Woman.

The top-class production also features hits performed by other stars with an Orbison connection, such as Chris Isaak and Buddy Holly, and culminates in the the whole cast coming together to pay homage to the original super group The Traveling Wilburys.

Also at the Royal Concert Hall this week is the Drivetime Concert with The Halle orchestra.

This year’s concert takes the audience out of this world to some fantastic places, from the fairytale worlds of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Stravinsky’s The Firebird to the ghostly realm of Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre (also known as the theme from Jonathan Creek) and a galaxy far, far away in John Williams’ music from Star Wars.
