Some of the top names from the 1960s have joined forces to tour the UK from March 5 to May 6.

The Solid Silver 60s show features Peter Noone, Chris Montez, Brian Hyland, Brian Poole and Vanity Fare and will be at the Meres Leisure Centre, Grantham, on Thursday, March 8, at 7.30pm.

They have more than 20 UK top ten hits between them.

Noone, who fronted Herman’s Hermits, had hits with No Milk Today, Silhouettes, I’m Into Something Good and There’s A Kind Of Hush. Montez, from America, hit the charts with Let’s Dance. Hyland, also from America, hat hits with Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and Sealed With A Kiss.

Poole, from The Tremeloes, had chart success with Do You Love Me, Twist And Shout, Candy Man, I Can Dance and Someone Someone. Vanity Fare clocked up more than 5m record sales with Hitching A Ride and I Live For The Sun.

Poole said: “This tour is quite special for me as we will be playing 50 years of rock ‘n’ roll music. I did a tour several years back with Peter Noone and it will be great to perform with him again.

“Vanity Fare will open the show and play their hits before we each come on and sing our songs. Hopefully we will return at the end and sing together.”

Poole was going to be a geography teacher and had a place booked at university but then his music took off. He was also in line to be a professional footballer.

“I have loved performing all over the world and still love touring to this day. I am now 70 and have never been busier. I hope to still be singing for another two or three years. I have been keeping fit with boxing lessons and going to the gym.”
