Newark Air Museum celebrates Avro Vulcan delivery 40th Anniversary with cockpit opening
It will be 40 years in February since the iconic Avro Vulcan touched down for the final time at Newark Air Museum.
To mark this special anniversary, on the weekend of February 11 and 12, museum trustees are offering access to the cockpit of the famous aircraft.
Entry to the cockpit will be free for visitors to the museum, however those interested in stepping inside should indicate their interest in advance.
Due to anticipated high levels of interest, the museum requests that they provide their estimated time of arrive and the number of guests that will be attending along with their ages.
This information will help trustees to create a timed ticket system as the Vulcan cockpit is quite restricted and only capable of taking three or four people at a time.
A series of talks by ex-Vulcan aircrew is planned also to take place throughout the weekend.
2023 also marks another milestone anniversary for the Vulcan as it will be 60 years since it entered RAF service.
The museum will be open from 10am to 4pm. Usual museum admission prices apply although entry into the cockpit is free of charge for those who inform the museum of their interest in advance.
Those interested should email admin@newarkairmuseum.org, with the subject header of “FREE Vulcan 40th Anniversary Visit” by February 1.
