Complicated and difficult to re-home dog from RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre adopted by experienced family on farm
A complicated young dog has found her forever home.
Bella, a five-month-old Belgian Shepherd, had spent half of her young life at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre due to a demanding personality, a high chase drive, lack of socialisation and being in desperate need of behaviour training, which had made her difficult to re-home.
The centre appealed for experienced dog owners to see if anyone would be up for the task and give Bella the home that she lacked.
Now she has found her perfect family on a farm with another dog to socialise with.
In a message to the animal centre from Bella's new family, they said: "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to give Bella a loving home.
"She has settled in like one of the family already, she is such a good natured, lovely girl who adores everyone.
"Our Malinois has accepted she’s here now and has actually played with her, letting her sleep next to him. Every time he barks, she looks a bit worried, but she’s already growing in confidence and occasionally barks back.
"If Indi (the other dog) gets up, she runs over and lays in his spot, wanting to play with toys he’s played with and she follows him when he leaves the room, so she’s already pretty attached.
"We walk Bella (now Ember) approximately three miles off lead around the farm twice a day and then she’s in and out with us all day. Though currently, she is laying on her back having belly rubs, completely worn out.
"Ember loves all the new smells in the fields and is glued to our side venturing off exploring only a few metres, then straight back, following behind Indi watching what he does.
"First thing in a morning Ember is like a Tasmanian devil and has developed a special love for running away with any shoe she can find, but as soon as she has had a walk, she’s calm and wants to lay next to us for a fuss and a nap.
"She’s doing well with house-training and knows where to go outside; she hasn’t had an accident since the second day.
"Any other training, we think will take a while and we will continue to give you updates as she progresses.
"Smiles and wagging tails, from Tim & family."
